About this blog

Hello, and welcome to my blog. Here, I post on topics related to Asian literature, which I define in the broadest possible manner. One week you may read about a 19th-century Japanese poet, the next an Indonesian drama, and the next a work of fiction written by a Westerner but with Asian themes. I lived in Japan for three and a half years, so I’m a bit more knowledgeable about Japanese writers, but all Asian literature interests me. I’m by no means an expert—not in Asian culture, Asian literature, Western literature, well, sadly nothing really. However I’m eager to explore, and this blog is a place that let’s me do that. If you have anything to add to the discussion, please comment. Enjoy!

By the way, my name’s Jen Ashburn. I currently live in Pittsburgh. My personal website is www.jashburn.com, and I can be contacted at jadeinkstone@jashburn.com.

  1. Good luck with the blog Jenny!

  2. Aha! I’m so dense sometimes, Jen. Do you know I just now figured out that this is you? Sorry I’m so slow.
If we’re ever in Pittsburgh at the same time, remind me to show you my dorky collection of Japanese children’s books (when I was teaching myself to read better). I don’t have a lot of original Japanese literature, but I do have a copy of the Japanese version of Silent Spring that someone gave me.
    Great blog!

    • Hi Marla! Yes — next time you’re in Pittsburgh (I know it’s just a jump and a skip from Africa), let’s definitely geek out on Japanese lit stuff. Hope life is treating you well. I quite enjoy following your globe trotting adventures!

      • Awesome. Will do, Jen! 🙂
Life is happily busy at the moment. Nervous about being near the end of this whole manuscript process. My feet are almost frozen solid from the thought of actually putting this out there!
Thanks for following the blog. I’m not good at staying “in my lane” but I think that’s difficult for anybody.
